Pretoria Capital’s innings was a masterclass in T20 structure: early recovery, middle‑overs consolidation, and a devastating finishing burst.

The Capitals stumbled early at 37/2, losing Bryce Parsons for a duck and Will Smeed for 22. Shai Hope then anchored the rebuild with a composed 45 off 30, keeping the innings stable while maintaining a healthy scoring rate.
Wihan Lubbe injected momentum with a fluent 60 off 36, striking seven fours and two sixes. His innings shifted Pretoria from recovery mode into a platform for acceleration.
The final overs belonged entirely to Dewald Brevis and Sherfane Rutherford, who produced one of the most explosive partnerships of the tournament.
- Brevis: 36* off 13 (4 sixes)
- Rutherford: 47* off 15 (6 sixes)
Their 86‑run stand off just 27 balls transformed a competitive total into a match‑winning one. Pretoria closed on 220/5, scoring at 11 runs per over.
Chasing 221, MI Cape Town needed early momentum but instead ran into a disciplined and relentless Capitals attack.
Ryan Rickelton (33 off 17) and Rassie van der Dussen (28 off 20) provided early scoring, but once the opening stand broke, MI Cape Town lost wickets in clusters.
Already the star with the bat, Sherfane Rutherford produced a career‑best bowling performance:
- 4/24 in 3 overs
- Key wickets: Hendricks, Pretorius, and two middle‑order breakthroughs
His spell dismantled MI Cape Town’s chase before it could settle.
Keshav Maharaj added further pressure with 3/28, removing Nicholas Pooran and tightening the middle overs.
MI Cape Town were bowled out for 135, falling 85 runs short.
